Using an autocue or script makes you look like a puppet (or Muppet)
Professional presenters rely on teleprompting to convey whatever they’ve been briefed to say. That’s because many other things are going on, usually in their earpiece. So learning how to use an autocue is a necessary part of their job. But when you’re a professional something-else, you’ve got a different job to do. And remember, the best way to be in front of camera is yourself. If you’ve got an autocue or you’ve got scripts whizzing around your head or going in front of your eyes then you’re not going to look too much like yourself, are you. So the best thing to do is try and remember what it is you’re trying to say. Keep it to short, sharp bursts and you will be fine.
